Note: Any activity that affects the normal flow of traffic must follow the guidelines and the Maintaining of Traffic Typicals found in the Michigan Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices(MMUTCD) Part VI, 2011 Edition.
The Road Commission now accepts credit card payments for permits. A permit is not valid until you receive the permit back with a signature and permit number.
Your credit card will automatically be charged a 3% processing fee (or minimum of $2.50) in addition to the cost of the permit.
A Right-of-Way permit is needed anytime a private citizen or contractor performs work within the road right-of-way (typically 33 feet on each side from center of road) including driveways (new installation or resurfacing), tree trimming or utility work.

A Commercial vehicle permit is needed for any transportation of overweight equipment, oversize loads, mobile home/buildings or other heavy loads. Our commercial vehicle permits are found here. If you are unsure about which permit to use please contact our office at 269-925-1196.
A Seasonal Weight Restrictions permit is required during Seasonal Weight Restrictions (aka "Frost Laws") for commercial vehicles during late winter and early spring. Notice will be given in the newspaper and on our main website page when Seasonal Weight Restrictions are in effect. These permits are found here.
