LOCATION: Lubke Road, between US-12 and Sand

PROJECT: The Berrien County Road Department is working with EGLE to create a solution to stabilize the stream bank near Lubke Road. Stabilizing the bank of the stream is necessary to maintain the roadway for the traveling public.
01/29/2020 UPDATE: Soil boring and testing occurred on Monday, January 27th. Those soil results are being evaluated to determine the sheet pile type for retaining wall construction. *Weather Dependent* estimated project completion and reopening of Lubke Road for the end of February 2020.
SAFETY BENEFITS: Preservation to the stream bank located near Lubke Road will protect the road from future and additional water erosion. Resulting in maintaining the roadway to be safe for public travel.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Lubke Road will be closed to thru traffic between US-12 and Sand. Specific location, is indicated on the detour map. Closure started on Saturday, January 11th 2020 and will be in effect until a solution can be created and implemented. Please seek alternative routes or use the recommended detour route until work is completed.
DETOUR ROUTE: The detour route will be US-12 to Wilson Road to Stromer Road to Sand Road. Detour will NOT be formally signed at this time. Signage might be placed if determined that repairs cannot be quickly made to stabilize the bank.
