Trauma and Trans-racial Adoption Training

So many children who are currently in foster care, or those who have been adopted, have a history of trauma. This background of trauma sticks with children for their whole life. What is trauma, and how can you best help these children reach their fullest potential? Also, what is secondary trauma, and what impact does it have on you,  the caregiver?

Both racial and ethnic identity are important facets of how we view ourselves and how others view us. It may sound simple, and yet it can actually be rather complex -especially for children and youth who are part of a cross-racial family.
